Elissa Tracy

The Selfie Series paintings are each 30"w x 40"h done in the medium of acrylic. This is the artist six month study of social media. The whole narcissistic truth and fantasy meet with capturing the "selfie" through the selfie series, "Watching us watch Ourselves."

Working primarily with pallet knives, strong pigments and thick acrylic paints, Elissa Tracy produces bold large-scale abstract expressionist paintings. The painting style depict eye catching representations of the artist's own life and emotions on canvas.

The soft graffiti modern pieces are layered with narrative elements inspired by outdoor graffiti and street art. This series of paintings involve mediums such as acrylic spray paints, collage elements and incorporating layers of three-dimensional objects.

Always bold and colorful and typically created as a satire, these artworks glorify its subject matter and celebrities. These paintings are created to capture the essence of the person, place or thing from the artist point of view and sometimes quirky sense of humor.

The GIJOE series is an extension of the artist Pop-Art perspective. The GIJOE and COBRA action figures are painted with humor and also keeping intact the 1980's nostalgic representations. The artist is a sci-fi enthusiast and a vintage toy collector which inspires the different series surrounding nostalgia fueled works. The Blonde Baroness is a character designed by the artist after attending Comic -Con and other pop-culture events.

"I find beauty in many things which are otherwise considered rejected. Beauty to me comes in shapes, lines, color tones and how light and shadows cast a spell on the subject matter. In nature nothing to me is ugly. I find beauty in junkyards, abandon spaces, rusted vehicles and even people with weathered looking faces. I find beauty in character, because character has history and history tells a story."

"The eyes speak far beyond the reaches of a photo. The same holds true when painting eyes in a painting. It is essential to capture some part of the model, actor, or musician’s personality, and more importantly a part that is not revealed on a daily basis. Face photography is a collaboration and an inspiration between photographer and model. I believe the end result of the final photo often reveals the personalities of both."

The Blonde Baroness is the alter ego of artist Elissa Tracy and was inspired by the  GiJoe comic books. The Blonde Baroness character attended Comic-con from 2011-2015, and primarily through social media has acquired a cult following. This following is made up of other GiJoe fans, Cobra legion groups and comic book enthusiast.

The Blonde Baroness has just finished a prototype custom action figure and is collaborating with a writer on a Blonde Baroness comic strip.
